About this talk

Opening remarks by: (1) Kevin Cannon, Senior Director of Safety & Health Services, AGC of America and (2) Shannon Lusk, VP/Safety Director, Missouri Valley, Inc. & Chair of the AGC Safety & Health Committee.

Effective safety management has long been intertwined with “HR” issues, and the wave of employment law changes promised by the Biden Administration make it even more important to possess wide ranging skills. 2021 will be dominated by vaccination and COVID issues, but safety professionals already worked with HR on job descriptions, employee safety orientation and training, supervisor development, safety-related discipline, safety incentives, return-to-work/light duty, wellness and security issues. One must understand the ADA, FMLA, whistleblower protections, policy and handbook drafting, how to structure and document “difficult” discharges and a host of other supposed “HR” issues. The wise safety professional not only builds alliances with HR but develops a toolbox of employment law and HR knowledge. In this webinar, we’ll review pertinent information on the ADA, FMLA, EEO, wage-hour, and effective processes for investigations, discipline, and discharge.
